In my view, Freni is just the most methodical singer, always has been; reliable but generic. As to the other principals, Franco Corelli as Don Jose and Mirella Freni as Michaela - perhaps the less said the better. Die wohl klangprächtigste Carmen-Aufnahme, die zu haben ist.
